I write my first story for the new year. 1500 words start to finish and I can’t seeing it growing much longer. I have some longer ones in the breach, but I’m trying a new process. 2015 was a tough year for writing, sooner it’s put behind me the better.
It’s that time of the year again. When thoughts turn to the dread VISA Card statement, office Christmas parties, and Uncle Creepy’s eggnog (what is that secret ingredient). I am teaching Hamlet. This is a first for me, and it has given me a chance not only to revisit the play, but also Almereyda’s messy, masterful adaptation (2000); and one summer in my own life when the time felt most terribly out of joint.
